Frequently
Asked Questions
Does
it cover the entire body work of the bike?
Yes, this isn't like other kits where your bike has to be a base
color. The wraps aren't decal kits, they are full wraps that cover
the entire body work. Your bike DOES NOT have to be painted a base
color or primer color first.
How
long will it last?
They are warranted for 3 years by 3M against fading and peeling
with proper installation.
Will
it come off if I pressure wash it?
These DO NOT have a tendancy to peel off from pressure washing like
decal kits. There are no edges or overlaps along the side of the
body work because it is covered as one piece.
How
high is the gloss of the material?
Bikeskinz wraps are specially laminated with a liquid laminator.
This offers the thinnest material which makes it easier to conform
to curves and also provides the highest gloss possible on vinyl
graphics. The quality of the shine could be compared to clear coated
paint.
How
does the wrap conform around tight curves?
The material is very thin and stretches very easily, however it
does take a little bit of pulling to conform to curves. The material
is also engineered to have a high retention of "memory"
which allows it to conform to body work and stay when pressed into
air ducts, etc. Also the kit comes in sections which allow relief
areas for the tail and gas tank. For instance the tank is made up
of one top piece and two side pieces which is ideal for fitting
shapes with a very tight radius.
When
would I need to place a custom order?
Custom orders are placed when you need a wrap designed with graphics
to your own specs. Examples would be a skin designed with your company
or shop logo, race team name, or themes such as movies, sports themes,
cartoon characters, etc.
How should I proceed with a custom order?
You can proceed two ways. The first and easiest way would be to
purchase a "custom designed kit" from the products list.
Then during checkout simply fill in your design ideas and requirements
in the order form or by sending an email to bikeskinz@bikeskinz.com.
The second way to proceed would be to email first and discuss the
design. Depending on the needs of the customer, several emails or
phone meetings may be needed either before, during, or after the
purchase.
How easy is it to install?
With a little patience and advice from our application guide, you
and a friend should be able to handle it.
Guide. Don't
forget, these wraps stretch to conform to curves. The product wouldn't
even work if it was like the normal thick vinyl you get for dash
kits, or decals.
What
if I mess up on the install?
If a customer messes up one side, BikeSkinz will let you reorder
individual pieces at a reduced price. Remember, we want your bike
to look good, and tell people about us.
How
do I find someone or a company locally to professionally install
the wrap?
The easiest way to find someone is to search online or the Yellow
Pages for vinyl sign shops. Most of the time if they do not install
wraps, they will be able to direct you to another shop that does.
In most larger cities you should be able to find a shop that specializes
in installing auto wraps. You'll want to get a couple quotes first
and a guarantee on the work. Most installers will charge $100-200
dollars for the installation.
Will Bikeskinz install the wrap for me?
Bikeskinz does installations in-house in the Western NC
area. If you're looking to get it installed by us, you'll probably
want to get a quote on shipping the fairings or bike to us first.
DHL and some other private shipping companies would probably charge
in the $200 dollar range and up from in the continental U.S. Our
installation fee for a full wrap is $150 with the purchase of a
skin.
